Blake Harris, Artistic Director
About: Blake Harris (he/him) is a theatre director and instructor, focusing in directing, devising, analysis, and gender + theatre. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Salisbury University, previously having taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Los Angeles, CA and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is interested in dismantling systemic social nonsense through his work.
His recent shows include the Tennessee premiere of You Got Older by Clare Barron, The Hairy Ape by Eugene O’Neill, an all-virtual and live production of The Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel (SU, performed at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival), the Tennessee premiere of Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch (UTC), No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre (Lee Strasberg Institute), Tartuffe by Molière (UTC), When We Young and Unafraid by Sarah Treem (The Sixty-Six Theater), the premiere of Agnes Borinksy's Brief Chronicle, Books 6-8 (Son of Semele Theater), and the Los Angeles premiere of Elfriede Jelinek's Jackie (CalArts).
Originally from Tennessee, he was a founding member and Artistic Director of Theater for the New South, a company that utilized found spaces for reinvigorated classics and new works. He received his MFA from CalArts in Theatre Directing and BA in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
